We believe that running a business brings responsibility and should have a positive impact on society. We believe that when we are doing well, other people should be doing well too – we want our business to be so much more than just making a profit.

Launched in January 2016, our ShareTheLove Project is very simple – for every placement we make, we sponsor a child’s education in India for a year. We partner with The Nanhi Kali project (Nanhi Kali meaning, for the girl child). Their head office is in Mumbai and they are very hands-on, ensuring each sponsorship goes directly into supporting the girls of the Nanhi Kali foundation.

Once a candidate has been successfully placed in a role, the sponsorship is processed. We have found this to be a huge bonus for both candidates and clients working with us and so far over 400 girls have reaped the benefits.

In December 2016 we visited the Nanhi Kali foundation and attended some of the schools whose pupil’s we support. It was brilliant to see how much the girls have achieved and how truly ambitious they are. We look forward to watching the project grow over the coming years.

Sponsoring a girl in India means the following:

Academic Support – they receive academic support through a 1-2 hour class conducted before or after school hours called the Academic Support Centre. Here, concepts in Maths, Science and Language are taught, to bridge the gaps in learning and enable children to attain grade-specific competency levels.

Material Support/Kits – The programme selects girls based on multiple criteria including enrolment in government schools, family income, parents’ educational background, social background and the child’s aptitude. A comprehensive sponsorship is created to take care of a range of their educational requirements, providing not only academic support that enables them to make a success of their schooling experience but also material support. This includes uniforms, school bags, shoes, socks etc. to enable the girl child to go to school with dignity. The material kit is ceremoniously handed over to each child at the beginning of the academic year.

The teaching methodology includes the extensive use of innovative teaching tools and activities such as storytelling, group games, etc. which make learning not only meaningful but also fun.

Community support involves regular interactions with their parents and the community to ensure that they don’t drop out of school. The society does play an important role in girl child education. Educating children doesn’t involve just them but also their families and the communities that they are a part of. Therefore, counselling and sensitising the community on gender issues forms an important component of our program.

Extra: Sponsorships also enable girls to do yoga and self defence classes. Key feedback we received from the girls is that the Nanhi Kali foundation provides them with a safe space and a place to make friends and share ideas and aspirations with like-minded girls.
